Carcassonne is a "must visit" city - visited second only
to Paris in France - it boasts the magnificent medieval
walled city and then "Lower Carcassonne" which is a
grid town.
Of course the market, the Canal du Midi, cafés and restaurants and further afield the delights of the Cathar courntry, of the circular villages or longer trips on the Canal du Midi and mountains.
Ryanair fly into Carcassonne from London/Stansted, Liverpool, Glassgow, Nottingham, Leeds, Shannon, Dublin. Other airlines fly into Toulouse which is just 1 hour from Carcassonne.
Summer or winter there will be something
for everyone in or around Carcassonne
festivals, markets, exhibitions, culturalevents music and the arts - events
culinary or historical - the list goes on.
In summertime there are pools and lakes in the area - Lac de la Cavayere is just 5 kms from Carcassonne and River Auderuns close to the city centre - ideal for picnics and relaxing.
The PYRENEES are within an hours drive for unrivalled mountanous scenery and of course the ski slopes.
A similar drive time will take you to the warm waters of the MED, and a little further afield into DUTY FREE ANDORRA for a little retail therapy.
